Maps Software

Maps software comprises digital tools that organize, visualize, and analyze relationships among locations, structures, or data points, helping researchers interpret complex information. In chemistry, these tools can combine spatial coordinates, molecular structures, experimental measurements, and database records into layered maps, then use search, filtering, and computational analysis to reveal patterns or connections. Applications include plotting chemical distributions, examining reaction or material-property datasets, comparing molecular features, and supporting laboratory data management. By converting dispersed chemical information into interactive visual representations, maps software can improve data interpretation, guide hypothesis generation, and support reproducible research across analytical, computational, and materials chemistry.

Mapping Microglial Parameters Software (MMPS): An Open-Source, User-Friendly Tool for Quantitative Microglia Morphology Analysis

2026

Mapping Microglial Parameters Software (MMPS) is a user-friendly analysis pipeline that requires no coding expertise and semi-automates single-cell microglial morphology analysis from immunofluorescence images. Validated in a rodent lipopolysaccharide-induced neuroinflammation model, MMPS reproducibly detects activation-associated morphological changes and enables standardized, scalable microglial phenotyping.

2016

We demonstrate the utility of remotely sensed data and the newly developed Software for Assisted Habitat Modeling (SAHM) in predicting invasive species occurrence on the landscape. An ensemble of predictive models produced highly accurate maps of tamarisk (Tamarix spp.) invasion in Southeastern Colorado, USA when assessed with subsequent field validations.

Fate Mapping

2023

Fate mapping is a technique used to understand how embryonic cells divide, differentiate, and migrate during development. In classic fate mapping experiments, cells in different areas of an embryo are labeled with a chemical dye and then tracked to determine which tissues or structures they form. Technological improvements now allow for individual cells to be marked and traced throughout embryonic development and adulthood. This video reviews the concepts behind fate mapping, and then details a...

Motor Maps

Source: Laboratories of Jonas T. Kaplan and Sarah I. Gimbel—University of Southern California One principle of brain organization is the topographic mapping of information. Especially in sensory and motor cortices, adjacent regions of the brain tend to represent information from adjacent parts of the body, resulting in maps of the body expressed on the surface of the brain. The primary sensory and motor maps in the brain surround a prominent sulcus known as the central sulcus. The cortex...

2016

An efficient and simple methodology for computer-based analysis of nematode swimming behavior in liquid is described. The method requires little to no investment for C. elegans laboratories. The hardware used is standard, and the computer software for the behavioral analysis (CeleST) is an open source one.
