Pyrolysis Treatment

Pyrolysis treatment is a thermochemical process that decomposes organic materials through heating in the absence or near-absence of oxygen, producing useful changes in composition and physical form. As temperature rises, heat breaks chemical bonds and converts feedstocks such as biomass, polymers, or waste into three main product fractions: solid char, condensable liquids, and noncondensable gases; residence time, heating rate, and temperature influence their proportions. In chemistry, pyrolysis treatment supports waste reduction, biomass conversion, chemical analysis, and production of fuels, adsorbents, and carbon-rich materials. Understanding these reaction pathways helps researchers optimize product yield, energy recovery, and environmental performance.

2013

Psoriasis is a chronic, immune-mediated inflammatory skin disease. The Goeckerman regimen, formulated for the treatment of psoriasis, consists of exposure to ultraviolet B (UVB) light and application of crude coal tar (CCT). The following protocol is for the administration of Goeckerman therapy for the treatment of moderate-to-severe psoriasis.

Preparation of Biomass-based Mesoporous Carbon with Higher Nitrogen-/Oxygen-chelating Adsorption for Cu(II) Through Microwave Pre-Pyrolysis

2019

Here, we present a protocol to synthesize nitrogen/oxygen dual-doped mesoporous carbon from biomass by chemical activation in different pyrolysis modes followed by modification. We demonstrate that the microwave pyrolysis benefits the subsequent modification process to simultaneously introduce more nitrogen and oxygen functional groups on the carbon.

2016

Experimental methods for fast pyrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass to produce bio-oils and for the catalytic hydrotreating of bio-oils to produce fuel range hydrocarbons are presented. Hot-vapor filtration during fast pyrolysis to remove fine char particles and inorganic contaminants from bio-oil was also assessed.
