Gastric Peristalsis

Gastric peristalsis is the coordinated, rhythmic contraction of the stomach’s smooth muscle that mixes ingested food and moves partially digested contents toward the small intestine. Pacemaker activity in the proximal stomach generates electrical slow waves, while enteric and autonomic signals regulate contractions that strengthen in the antrum; the pylorus limits outflow, producing retropulsion that grinds particles before gastric emptying. In clinical research, assessing gastric peristalsis helps explain symptoms and disorders such as delayed gastric emptying, nausea, and early satiety. Understanding this process supports evaluation of gastrointestinal motility and the development of diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.

Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Procedure: A Bariatric Surgical Procedure for Gastric Resectioning in Murine Model

2025

This video describes a bariatric surgery-Roux-en-Y procedure. This involves the cutting of the jejunum- the middle portion of the intestine- to generate two intestinal limbs. The biliary limb is attached to the existing intestinal loop and the alimentary limb is attached to the stomach, creating a gastric bypass. The gastric bypass created here helps to decrease the nutrient uptake and efficiently reduces body weight.

Numerous studies using gastric bypass rat models have been recently conducted to uncover the underlying physiological mechanisms of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass operations. This article aims to demonstrate and discuss the technical and experimental details of our published gastric bypass rat model to understand advantages and limitations of this experimental tool.

Laparoscopic Radical Gastrectomy for Remnant Gastric Cancer

2025

Laparoscopic radical gastrectomy for remnant gastric cancer has been increasingly adopted as a minimally invasive surgical approach in recent years. This article proposes a detailed operating procedure, aiming to provide practical technical guidance for surgeons and promote the broader adoption of laparoscopic surgery in managing remnant gastric cancer.

Intraoperative Gastroscopy for Tumor Localization in Laparoscopic Surgery for Gastric Adenocarcinoma

In early gastric cancer, the aim of surgery is to precisely remove the distal stomach including the primary tumor. To do this, accurate localization of the tumor is crucial, especially in totally laparoscopic surgery. This protocol describes a procedure for intraoperative gastroscopy in totally laparoscopic subtotal gastrectomy.

Establishing an Infection Model Through Microinjection of Gastric Organoids with Pathogenic Bacteria
