Signal Processing Techniques

Signal processing techniques are methods for analyzing, transforming, and extracting information from measured signals, including audio, images, sensor outputs, and communication data. They operate by representing signals in time or frequency, applying operations such as sampling, filtering, amplification, and Fourier transformation, and then reconstructing or interpreting the result under defined noise and bandwidth conditions. In engineering, these techniques remove interference, detect features, compress data, and improve the reliability of control, measurement, and communication systems. Their use supports applications ranging from biomedical instrumentation and robotics to wireless networks, industrial monitoring, and scientific measurement.

2015

Attention control comprises enhancement of target signals and attenuation of distractor signals. We describe an approach to measure separately but concurrently, the neurophysiology of attending and ignoring in sustained intermodal attention, utilizing a passive control condition during which neither process is continuously engaged.

A Technique for Percutaneous Epididymal Spermatozoa Aspiration and Processing

The preparing and processing of dried blood spots (DBS) for their final analysis are still poorly standardized for most diagnostic applications. To overcome this shortcoming, a comprehensive step-by-step protocol is suggested and subsequently evaluated with regard to its effectiveness for detecting markers of viral infections.

Asthma Detection Research Based on Voice Signal Processing and Machine Learning

2025

This study employed voice signal analysis and machine learning methods, utilizing MATLAB to extract distinctive voice features for non-invasive early detection of asthma. The Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Random Forest (RF) algorithms demonstrated comparable performance in terms of overall classification accuracy, although SVM may achieve a better balance between sensitivity and specificity.

2010

Stimulus-evoked [Ca2+]i signals of individual human sperm are assessed. Motile cells are loaded with Ca2+-sensitive fluorescent dye (AM-ester method) and immobilised in a perfusable chamber. Cells are imaged by time-lapse fluorescence microscopy and stimulated via the perfusing medium. Responses of single cells (or regions) are analysed offline using Excel.
