Equine Ige

Equine IgE is an antibody class produced by horses that helps coordinate immune responses to allergens and some parasitic infections. It circulates at low concentrations but binds high-affinity FcεRI receptors on mast cells and basophils; allergen cross-linking triggers degranulation and release of inflammatory mediators. This pathway contributes to immediate hypersensitivity and can influence clinical signs involving the skin or airways. Measuring equine IgE with immunoassays supports investigation of allergic disease, parasite immunity, and diagnostic biomarker development. Better understanding its regulation may improve interpretation of immune responses in veterinary immunology and infection research.

In vitro analysis of class switch recombination in mice is challenging due to cytophilic IgE molecules bound to Fc receptors on the surface of B cells. We describe a method for IgE detection using trypsin-mediated cleavage of surface-bound IgE prior to fixation and permeabilization for cytoplasmic fluorescence staining.

2011

Basophil activation test is a potent tool for the detection of IgE-dependent allergies in vitro. Here, an optimized protocol for basophil activation test is used to investigate drug hypersensitivity. A method for the efficient production of covalent drug-protein conjugates and their physicochemical characterization is described.

This paper describes a method of abdominal wall closure using tension and apposition sutures in horses undergoing ventral midline laparotomies. It also describes methods for prevention and management of postoperative incisional complications, such as bandaging, negative pressure therapy, and in case of wound breakdown, the application of retention sutures.

A Simple Microaspiration Technique for Isolating Somatic Cells from Cryopreserved Equine Semen as Nuclear Donors for Cloning
