Blood Skin Analysis

Blood skin analysis is a medical assessment that examines blood and skin findings to evaluate health, identify abnormalities, and support clinical decision-making. Depending on the question, clinicians analyze blood cells, proteins, or chemical markers while inspecting skin color, texture, lesions, and other visible changes; a skin biopsy may provide tissue for microscopic examination. Together, these approaches can help assess inflammatory, infectious, metabolic, or systemic conditions and monitor response to treatment. Results must be interpreted alongside symptoms, medical history, and other diagnostic tests because neither blood nor skin findings alone establishes every diagnosis.

The combination of iterative-bleaching-extends-multiplexity (IBEX) and a commercial nucleotide labeling assay (Click-iT EdU) enables the detection and categorization of dividing cell types in highly dynamic processes in fixed frozen murine tissue sections. Furthermore, a novel open-source image processing pipeline provides high-throughput image acquisition and analysis.

Malassezia-Induced Skin Inflammation and Fungal Burden Analysis in a Murine Model

This video demonstrates Malassezia-induced skin infection in mice. Malassezia oil suspension is applied over the wounded ear, triggering inflammation and swelling of the ear tissue. Later, the ears are dissected, homogenized, and spread on an agar plate for growth. The number of colonies indicates the fungal burden resulting from skin inflammation.
