Cardiac Lymphatic Ablation

Cardiac lymphatic ablation is a research technique that selectively destroys or blocks lymphatic vessels in the heart to examine how cardiac lymphatic drainage influences cardiovascular function and disease. By interrupting the movement of interstitial fluid, immune cells, and macromolecules from myocardial tissue, the procedure alters local fluid balance and inflammatory signaling. Researchers use cardiac lymphatic ablation in experimental models to investigate myocardial edema, inflammation, tissue repair, and remodeling after cardiac injury. These studies clarify the lymphatic system’s contribution to heart health and may guide future therapies for conditions involving impaired cardiac fluid clearance or abnormal immune responses.

Pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) with an ablation catheter is a curative treatment for atrial fibrillation (AF). Robotic catheter systems aim to improve catheter steerability. Here, a procedure with a new robotic catheter system is presented. The goal of the procedure is electrical block between pulmonary vein and left atrium.
