Rehabilitation Robotics

Rehabilitation robotics is the use of robotic devices to assist, guide, or augment movement during therapy after injury, illness, or neurological impairment. These systems apply controlled forces or provide partial body-weight support while sensors monitor a patient’s motion, strength, and interaction, allowing assistance to adjust as performance changes. Applications include robotic exoskeletons, end-effector systems, and upper-limb devices for gait, arm, and hand rehabilitation. By enabling intensive, repeatable, and measurable training, rehabilitation robotics can support motor relearning, help clinicians quantify functional progress, and contribute to personalized treatment in medicine and assistive care.
