Upper-airway Video Endoscopy

Upper-airway video endoscopy is a minimally invasive imaging technique that uses an endoscope to visualize the nasal passages, pharynx, and larynx, helping clinicians assess anatomy and function in real time. A flexible or rigid tube equipped with a light source and camera is introduced through the nose or mouth, transmitting magnified images to a monitor while the patient breathes, speaks, or swallows. In medicine, the procedure supports evaluation of airway obstruction, inflammation, masses, vocal-fold movement, and swallowing abnormalities. It can guide diagnosis and treatment planning, monitor disease or recovery, and provide dynamic information that static imaging may not capture.

Capsule endoscopy, or wireless or video capsule endoscopy, is a diagnostic procedure for examining the entire gastrointestinal tract. Patients swallow a capsule about the size of a vitamin tablet. The capsule is equipped with a transmitter, a battery, an LED light source, and a color video camera to capture images throughout the gastrointestinal tract. This procedure is particularly useful for diagnosing conditions such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, tumors, polyps, ulcers, unexplained...

The aim of this study was to establish a standardized protocol for sleep endoscopy to differentiate obstruction patterns in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Target-controlled infusion (TCI) of the sedative was combined with real-time monitoring of the depth of sedation using bispectral analysis.

Capturing Representative Hand Use at Home Using Egocentric Video in Individuals with Upper Limb Impairment

A protocol is proposed to capture natural hand function of individuals with hand impairments during their daily routines using an egocentric camera. The goal of the protocol is to ensure that the recordings are representative of an individual's typical hand use during activities of daily living at home.

The use of reporter mice coupled to whole mount and section staining, microscopy and in vivo assays facilitates the analysis of mechanisms underlying the normal patterning of the respiratory tract. Here we describe how these techniques contributed to the analysis of Wnt signaling during tracheal development.
