Brain Imaging Correlation

Brain imaging correlation is the quantitative analysis of relationships between brain-imaging measurements, revealing how activity or structure varies across regions, time points, individuals, or behavioral states. Researchers preprocess and align imaging data, then use correlation or related statistical measures to test whether signals change together, while recognizing that association does not by itself establish causation. Applied to modalities such as functional MRI, structural MRI, or other neural recordings, this approach can identify functional connectivity, relate imaging patterns to cognition and disease, and compare brain organization across conditions. These analyses support network-level models of neuroscience and can help evaluate biomarkers or hypotheses about brain function.
