Tyrosine Hydroxylase Staining

Tyrosine hydroxylase staining is an immunohistochemical method used to identify cells and fibers that express tyrosine hydroxylase, the enzyme that catalyzes the rate-limiting step in catecholamine synthesis. The technique uses primary antibodies that bind tyrosine hydroxylase in fixed tissue, followed by labeled secondary antibodies that produce a fluorescent or chromogenic signal for microscopic detection. In neuroscience, this approach maps dopaminergic and noradrenergic pathways and supports comparisons of neuronal abundance, distribution, and morphology. It is widely used to investigate brain organization, neurotransmitter systems, and changes associated with disorders such as Parkinson’s disease.

Receptor Tyrosine Kinases

2025

Receptor tyrosine kinases or RTKs are membrane-bound receptors that phosphorylate specific tyrosine on protein substrates. RTKs regulate cellular growth, differentiation, survival, and migration. They contain an extracellular ligand binding domain, a transmembrane domain, and a cytosolic tail with intrinsic kinase activity. Several extracellular signaling molecules activate RTKs in one or more ways and relay the signal downstream. Ligands such as platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) or...

Receptor tyrosine kinases are ectopically expressed in many cancers and have been identified as therapeutic targets in acute leukemia. This manuscript describes an efficient strategy for pre-clinical evaluation of tyrosine kinase inhibitors for the treatment of acute leukemia.

A Whole-Mount Organ Staining Technique for Three-Dimensional Imaging of the Kidney

2025

This video demonstrates an assay for the whole-mount staining of murine kidneys using a tissue-clearing method called CUBIC (clear, unobstructed brain/body imaging cocktails and computational analysis) and immunofluorescent staining. The kidney is subjected to tissue clearing, wherein the kidney is delipidated, decolorized, and treated with a refractive index matching solution to make the tissue transparent for optimum three-dimensional imaging. The tissue is stained with fluorescently labeled...

Many properties help distinguish them from each other, including but not limited to Gram-staining type, shape and arrangement, production of capsule, and formation of spores. To observe these properties, one...
