He became an independent scientist at Ottawa Hospital Research Institute where he was Senior Scientist. His lab was interested in the role of Claudin-6 tight junction molecules in epidermal differentiation as well as use of embryonic stem cells to study epidermal lineage. He has been Editor in Chief of Stem Cells Reviews and Reports. He was also Founding Editor in Chief of Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine book series and Cell Biology and Translational Medicine series. He edited more than 80 volumes of protocol volumes for SpringerNature’s Method in Molecular Biology. He is currently Editor in Chief of Tissue Barriers.
