Nomenclature of Primary Amines

La nomenclatura comune delle ammine primarie è derivata dall'aggiunta di -ammina come suffisso al sostituente alchilico per dare alchilammina.
La nomenclatura IUPAC delle ammine primarie è derivata sostituendo la -e finale dell'alcano genitore con il suffisso -ammina per dare le alcanomine. 
Se una molecola porta due gruppi –NH2, la -e finale dell'alcano viene mantenuta e il nome del genitore viene suffisso con -diammina.
Per utilizzare la nomenclatura IUPAC, selezionare la catena idrocarburica madre più lunga legata all'ammina azoto. Quindi assegna il locante più basso all'atomo di carbonio che porta l'ammina azoto.
I sostituenti e i relativi valori locanti sono elencati in ordine alfabetico e preceduti dal nome del genitore. I prefissi di- o tri- sono usati per indicare sostituenti identici.
I centri chirali, se presenti, sono specificati all'inizio del nome.
Se una molecola ha un altro gruppo funzionale, ad eccezione degli alogeni, il gruppo –NH2 viene trattato come un sostituente e preceduto dal nome del genitore.
Le ammine primarie che portano gruppi alchilici ciclici sono chiamate cicloalchilammine o cicloalcanoammine.

Le ammine primarie, secondarie e terziarie sono composti costituiti rispettivamente da uno, due e tre gruppi alchilici collegati al gruppo amminico (–NH_2). Come illustrato in Figura 1, il nome comune delle ammine primarie si ottiene aggiungendo il suffisso -ammina al sostituente alchilico attaccato al gruppo amminico come la corrispondente alchilammina.

Nella nomenclatura IUPAC per le ammine primarie, la finale -o dell'alcano genitore viene sostituita con il suffisso -ammina per dare le corrispondenti alcanammine. Qui, la catena idrocarburica dell'alcano genitore più lunga legata all'azoto amminico viene selezionata in modo tale che all'atomo di carbonio attaccato all'azoto amminico venga assegnato il locante più basso. Successivamente, i sostituenti e i loro valori locanti sono elencati in ordine alfabetico e preceduti dal nome genitore. La Figura 2 fornisce due esempi tipici.

Qualsiasi centro chirale, se presente, viene aggiunto come prefisso e i descrittori chirali vengono aggiunti con il locante appropriato. La Figura 3 illustra alcuni esempi rappresentativi dello stesso.

Nelle molecole con più sostituenti, compreso il gruppo nitro, ha la precedenza più bassa, ad eccezione degli alogeni. Come illustrato in Figura 4, il prefisso ammino- è anteposto al nome del genitore nella nomenclatura di tali composti.

Per quanto riguarda la nomenclatura di una molecola con due gruppi –NH_2, viene mantenuta la finale -o dell'alcano genitore e al nome genitore viene aggiunto il suffisso -diammina. In alternativa, le ammine primarie recanti gruppi alchilici ciclici hanno il suffisso -ammina che sostituisce la -o finale nel cicloalcano genitore.

Primary amines are named by following a few clear organic chemistry rules. These rules help identify the amino group, written as –NH2, and show how it connects to the carbon chain.

Common names for primary amines use the alkyl group name plus the suffix -amine. In IUPAC naming, the final -e of the parent alkane is changed to -amine, which gives an alkanamine name. The longest carbon chain attached to the amine nitrogen is chosen, and the carbon bonded to nitrogen gets the lowest locant. Any other substituents are then listed alphabetically with their locant numbers before the parent name.

If the molecule has a chiral center, the chirality descriptor is added as a prefix with its locant. For molecules with more than one substituent, including a nitro group, the amino group is given lower precedence, except for halogens. In those cases, amino- is used as a prefix to the parent name.

Some amines have two –NH2 groups. For these compounds, the final -e of the parent alkane is kept, and the name ends with -diamine. Primary amines with cyclic alkyl groups follow a similar pattern, but the final -e of the parent cycloalkane is replaced with -amine.
