Platinum Electrode Deposition

Platinum electrode deposition is the formation of a platinum coating on an electrode surface to improve its electrical, chemical, and biological performance. In electrochemical deposition, a platinum-containing solution supplies metal ions that are reduced at the electrode under an applied potential or current, causing platinum nuclei to form and grow; deposition conditions control coating thickness, surface roughness, and morphology. In bioengineering, these coatings can increase electroactive surface area, lower interfacial impedance, and improve charge transfer for neural interfaces, biosensors, and stimulation electrodes. Careful control of adhesion and coating structure also supports stable operation in physiological environments.

On comparing the reactivity of silver and lead, it is observed that the two ionic species, Ag+ (aq) and Pb2+ (aq), show a difference in their redox reactivity towards copper: the silver ion undergoes spontaneous reduction, while the lead ion does not. This relative redox activity can be easily quantified in electrochemical cells by a property called cell potential. This property is commonly known as cell voltage in electrochemistry, and it is a measure of the energy which accompanies the charge...

We offered a method to directly synthesize high c-axis (0002) ZnO thin film by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition. The as-synthesized ZnO thin film combined with Pt interdigitated electrode was used as sensing layer for ultraviolet photodetector, showing a high performance through a combination of its good responsivity and reliability.

All-solid-state ion-selective electrodes (ASSISEs) constructed from a conductive polymer (CP) transducer provide several months of functional lifetime in liquid media. Here, we describe the fabrication and calibration process of ASSISEs in a lab-on-a-chip format. The ASSISE is demonstrated to have maintained a near-Nernstian slope profile after prolonged storage in complex biological media.
