Total Pressure

Total pressure is the combined pressure exerted by all gases in a mixture, making it essential for describing gas behavior in chemistry and related scientific applications. Under conditions where gases behave ideally, Dalton’s law states that total pressure equals the sum of the partial pressures contributed by each gas, with each partial pressure determined by that component’s amount, temperature, and volume. This principle helps researchers analyze gas composition, predict changes during chemical reactions, and interpret measurements in closed systems. It also supports applications involving atmospheric gases, laboratory gas collection, combustion, and industrial process control.

Static, Stagnation, Dynamic and Total Pressure

2026

The concept of static, stagnation, dynamic, and total pressure is fundamental in fluid dynamics, often explained using Bernoulli's equation: Here, p is static pressure,1/2⍴V2 is dynamic pressure, γz is hydrostatic pressure or potential energy pressure, and pT is total pressure, constant along a streamline for incompressible flows. 1. Static Pressure (p): This is the pressure exerted by a fluid at rest or as if flowing fluid is brought to rest in the direction of motion. It is measured using a...

The laser heated diamond anvil cell combined with synchrotron micro-diffraction techniques allows researchers to explore the nature and properties of new phases of matter at extreme pressure and temperature (PT) conditions. Heterogeneous samples can be characterized in situ under high pressure by 2D mapping and combined powder, single-crystal and multigrain diffraction approaches.

Total Fixed, Total Variable, and Total Cost Curves

In the short run, a firm incurs various fixed expenses such as lease payments, insurance premiums, and machinery depreciation. Collectively, these are known as the total fixed cost (TFC) of production. Graphically, TFC is depicted by a straight line parallel to the x-axis, with cost on the vertical axis and the quantity of output on the horizontal axis. Variable costs include expenses that change with the output level, such as materials used and wages of workers paid hourly. Collectively, these...

Reverse total shoulder arthroplasty is indicated for the treatment of conditions that cannot be treated with conventional arthroplasty or other procedures. These primarily include degenerative and incapacitating conditions with irreparable rotator cuff and loss of the normal biomechanical coupling of the shoulder.
