Kidney Stone Management

Kidney stone management is the clinical evaluation, treatment, and prevention of mineral deposits that form in the urinary tract and may cause pain, obstruction, or infection. Care begins by assessing stone size, location, composition, symptoms, and kidney function to determine whether observation, hydration, analgesia, or medical expulsive therapy is appropriate; larger or obstructing stones may require shock wave lithotripsy, ureteroscopy, or other procedures. Analysis of passed or removed stones, together with urine and blood testing, guides dietary and medication-based prevention. Effective management relieves symptoms, protects renal function, and reduces recurrence through individualized follow-up.
