Commercial Simulation Software

Commercial simulation software comprises licensed engineering tools that use mathematical models to predict how products, systems, or processes will behave before physical testing or deployment. Users translate geometry, materials, loads, and boundary conditions into a computational model, then numerical solvers discretize governing equations and calculate outputs such as stress, temperature, flow, motion, or electromagnetic fields. Engineers apply these results to compare designs, identify failure risks, optimize performance, and reduce prototype iterations across disciplines including mechanical, civil, aerospace, and chemical engineering. Because predictions depend on model assumptions, mesh quality, and validated input data, simulation supports engineering decisions most effectively when paired with experiments and analytical checks.

Our protocol demonstrates how to pour multiple protein gels at a time by recycling Invitrogen Nupage Novex minigel cassettes, and inexpensive materials purchased at a home improvement store. This economical and streamlined method includes a way to store the gels at 4°C for a few weeks. By re-using the plastic gel cassettes from commercially available gels, labs that run frequent protein gels can save significant costs and help the environment.

2012

An efficient way to gain insight into how humans navigate themselves in three dimensions is described. The method takes advantage of a motion simulator capable of moving observers in ways unattainable by traditional simulators. Results confirm that movement in the horizontal plane is underestimated, while vertical movement is overestimated.
