Durum Wheat Barley

Durum wheat and barley are cool-season cereal crops whose growth, productivity, and distribution depend on interactions between plant biology and the environment. They germinate and develop through photosynthesis, root-mediated water and nutrient uptake, and grain filling, with temperature, soil moisture, nutrient availability, and seasonal timing influencing each stage. Studying these crops in environmental contexts helps explain variation in yield, drought response, resource use, and soil-system interactions across agricultural landscapes. This knowledge supports crop selection, rotation planning, sustainable water and nutrient management, and adaptation strategies for changing climate conditions.

A method for metabolomic analysis of barley is presented. The method entails fractionation and derivatization of metabolites and analysis thereof by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Metabolomic analysis can be used to determine the effect of intercropping and drought stress on the grain.

The side stream from plant oil production of Crambe abyssinica has limited value. The purpose of this study was to find methods for extruding materials based on this side stream, demonstrating that products with a higher value can be produced. The extrudates were found to have promising properties.

Presented here is a protocol for the determination of the absorption, translocation, and distribution of imidacloprid in wheat under hydroponic conditions using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS-MS). The results showed that imidacloprid can be absorbed by wheat, and imidacloprid was detected in both the wheat roots and leaves.

Chemical Kinetics and the Reaction Rate Law Chemical kinetics refers to the rate or speed of a chemical reaction. The rate depends on the mechanism, complexity, and number of reactants in the reaction. Reactant concentration also plays a significant role in the rate of a reaction. The rate law quantifies this relationship through experimentation. Each reactant contributes to the speed of the reaction by a factor known as the reaction order. This factor can range from zero to two, and it depends...

Chemical Kinetics The reaction rate is the speed at which a chemical reaction occurs. The reaction rate is defined as the change in concentration of a component in the reaction with time. The speed of a reaction depends on several factors, including the concentration of reactants and the temperature at which the reaction is performed. Each reactant contributes to the speed of the reaction by a specific factor. This relationship is defined by the reaction rate law. Rate Law The rate law is an...
