Opportunity Identification

Opportunity identification is the systematic process of recognizing unmet needs, emerging demand, or favorable conditions that could support a new product, service, or initiative. In marketing, it works by combining customer research, market and trend analysis, competitor assessment, and internal capability review to evaluate whether a potential opportunity is relevant, feasible, and valuable. Marketers may then segment target audiences, estimate demand, and test assumptions through surveys, interviews, experiments, or pilot campaigns. Strong opportunity identification helps organizations prioritize investments, reduce uncertainty, improve product-market fit, and develop strategies that respond to changing customer behavior and competitive conditions.
