Functional Recovery Tests

Functional recovery tests are standardized clinical assessments used to determine how well a person regains physical, cognitive, or daily-living abilities after illness, injury, surgery, or treatment. They typically compare performance with a baseline or reference value by measuring tasks such as walking, balance, strength, range of motion, coordination, or activities of daily living under defined conditions. In medicine, these tests help clinicians track progress, identify persistent limitations, guide rehabilitation plans, and evaluate treatment outcomes. Repeated testing can provide objective evidence of recovery, support individualized care, and improve communication among patients, therapists, and healthcare teams.

2024

Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs) Pulmonary Function Tests are crucial diagnostic tools for assessing respiratory function, particularly in patients with chronic respiratory disorders. They comprehensively evaluate lung volumes, ventilatory function, breathing mechanics, diffusion, and gas exchange. These tests help diagnose pulmonary diseases and play a significant role in monitoring disease progression, evaluating disability, and assessing response to therapy. PFTs involve using a spirometer, a...

Here, we present a protocol to develop the computerized adaptive testing system of the functional assessment of stroke (CAT-FAS). The CAT-FAS can simultaneously assess four functions (two motor functions [upper and lower extremities], postural control, and basic activities of daily living) with sufficient reliability and administrative efficiency.
