Individualized Chemotherapy

Individualized chemotherapy is an approach to cancer treatment that tailors drug selection, dosage, and scheduling to the characteristics of a patient and their tumor. It integrates tumor biology, molecular biomarkers, disease stage, organ function, prior treatment, and pharmacogenomic information to predict treatment response and toxicity, while clinicians use imaging, laboratory tests, and clinical assessment to adjust therapy over time. In medicine, this strategy can help maximize cancer cell killing while limiting harm to healthy tissues, reduce ineffective treatment, and support safer combination therapies. Its continued development contributes to precision oncology and more responsive, patient-centered cancer care.

Alkaline Single Cell Gel Electrophoresis: A Sensitive Technique for Quantitative Estimation of DNA Damage in Individual Cancer Cells Following Chemotherapy

2025

In this video, we demonstrate an alkaline single-cell electrophoresis assay to quantify both single- and double-strand DNA breaks in doxorubicin-treated cells. Alkaline conditions disrupt the hydrogen bonds between DNA base pairs, resulting in the complete unwinding and separation of DNA strands. This allows differential migration of undamaged and damaged DNA fragments in agarose gel upon electrophoresis, revealing a comet-shaped structure of slowly migrating undamaged DNA forming the circular...

This abstract describes a novel method to assess the development of neurotoxicity in patients receiving chemotherapy treatment. While conventional assessment methods are limited in their ability to detect early changes in nerve function, nerve excitability techniques provide early identification of patients at risk of severe neurotoxicity and insight into pathophysiology.

2025

Human behavior is intricately shaped by social influences that arise from interactions with others in diverse contexts. These influences not only mold beliefs and attitudes but also drive the regulation of behaviors through both direct communication and observational learning. The study of these processes falls within the domain of social psychology, which seeks to understand how individuals are affected by and affect those around them.Mechanisms of Social InfluenceDirect social influence...
