Murine Aortic Transplantation

Murine aortic transplantation is an experimental surgical model in which a segment of a mouse aorta is transferred to another mouse to study vascular graft biology and disease. The procedure involves isolating the donor vessel, connecting it to the recipient circulation through precise vascular anastomoses, and monitoring the graft as it responds to blood flow, ischemia-reperfusion, and host immune factors. Researchers use this model to investigate transplant rejection, inflammation, atherosclerosis, aneurysm formation, vascular remodeling, and graft failure. Its controlled genetic background and measurable tissue responses support evaluation of vascular mechanisms, therapeutic strategies, and biomaterials before clinical investigation.
