Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment is a dental procedure that removes diseased or damaged pulp from inside a tooth, allowing the tooth to be preserved rather than extracted. During treatment, clinicians access the pulp chamber, remove infected tissue, clean and shape the root canals, disinfect them, and seal the space to block reinfection. This approach is used for pulpitis or infection caused by deep decay, cracks, or trauma, and it can relieve pain while preventing infection from spreading into surrounding tissues. Afterward, a filling or crown restores function and protects the weakened tooth, making root canal treatment an important tooth-preserving intervention in modern oral medicine.

Source: Yi, Y., et al. Plant-Microbe Interaction: Transcriptional Response of Bacillus Mycoides to Potato Root Exudates. J. Vis. Exp. (2018)This video demonstrates the preparation and treatment of Bacillus mycoides cultures to study plant-microbe interactions. It outlines the steps from streaking a stock culture and incubating it in liquid medium to exposing the bacteria to plant root exudates under agitation. The process culminates in harvesting and flash-freezing the bacterial cells for...

Capturing Flow-weighted Water and Suspended Particulates from Agricultural Canals During Drainage Events

Nutrients present in particulate form can contribute significantly to the overall loads in agricultural drainage waters. This study describes a novel method to capture flow-weighted water and suspended particulates from farm canal drainage over the entire duration of the drainage event.

A Technique for Harvesting and Dissociating Dorsal Root Ganglia for Neuronal Cultures

2025

This video demonstrates a method for harvesting neurons from the dorsal root ganglia (DRG). DRG from a rat's spinal column is isolated, treated with enzymes, and then mechanically dissociated to obtain a single-cell suspension. The neurons are separated from glial cells using density gradient centrifugation and cultured in a growth medium.
