Premated Female Rejection

Premated female rejection is a post-mating behavioral state in which a female becomes less receptive to subsequent courtship, helping regulate mating and reproductive investment. In insect neuroscience, mating triggers signals from the reproductive tract and seminal fluid that engage neuromodulatory pathways, alter sensory processing, and suppress neural circuits controlling sexual receptivity; females may respond by fleeing, kicking, or resisting copulation. Studying this behavior links reproductive physiology with decision-making and social behavior, providing a tractable model for examining how internal state reshapes neural circuit activity. It also informs research on mate choice, sperm competition, and the evolution of reproductive strategies.

We describe a protocol for aortic interposition grafting in mice. The goal of the protocol is to provide a model with which to study pathological processes and therapeutic strategies relevant to alloimmune reactions in arteries and the resultant arterial changes that contribute to organ transplant failure.
