Chronic Dysfunction

Chronic dysfunction refers to persistent impairment in psychological, emotional, behavioral, or social functioning that continues over time and interferes with daily life. In psychology, it can develop when enduring patterns of stress, maladaptive thoughts, emotional regulation difficulties, or behavior reinforce one another, limiting adaptation and maintaining distress. Assessing chronic dysfunction helps clinicians distinguish temporary reactions from long-standing difficulties, identify factors that sustain impairment, and guide treatment planning. Studying these patterns also supports research on mental health conditions, coping, resilience, and interventions designed to improve functioning and prevent further decline.

Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH) and Right Ventricular (RV) dysfunction were induced in piglets by progressive obstruction of the pulmonary arteries. Consequences were remarkably similar to those observed in CTEPH patients. This animal model would be a very useful tool for pathophysiology and therapeutic experiments on CTEPH and RV failure.

Mapping Dysfunctional Protein-Protein Interactions in Disease

2025

Here, we present a protocol to enable the capture and identification of disease-specific protein-protein interactions from native cells and tissues using chemical probes and mass spectrometry. The resulting interaction datasets are analyzed through a dedicated web-based platform to reveal dynamic network dysfunctions and pathway alterations linked to disease.

Mouse model of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) with metabolic dysfunction, hepatic gene expression changes, and liver histopathological alterations that resemble human MASLD, including fibrosis that progresses to advanced fibrosis stage 3. This model can be used in studies of MASLD pathophysiology and in pre-clinical studies of new therapies.
