3.12: 供給の弾力性 (Es) の度合い

供給弾力性 (Es) にはさまざまな度合いがあり、それぞれが価格の変化に対して供給量がどれだけ反応するかを示しています。

完全に弾力性のある供給とは、わずかな価格の変化でも供給量が無限に場合を指します。これは水平の供給曲線として表されます。逆に、完全に弾力性のない供給とは、価格の変化に関係なく供給量が一定であることを意味します。これは垂直の供給曲線として表されます。供給弾力性が１を超えるとき、供給は弾力性があると見なされ、供給量が価格変動以上に比例して変化することを示します。この曲線は比較的平坦です。供給弾力性 が 1 未満の場合は、供給は非弾力性があり、供給量が価格の変化に比例して変化しないことを意味します。曲線は急勾配になります。単位弾性供給 (Es = 1) は、供給量が価格の変化に正確に比例して変化することを示します。単位弾性供給曲線の傾きは、x 軸と y 軸に示される単位の相対的なスケールに応じて、急になったり、緩やかになったりします。重要なのは、2 つの変化の比率がまったく同じでなければならないということです。

これらの供給弾力性の度合いを理解することで、企業は価格変化に対する市場の反応を予測し、情報に基づいた生産と価格決定を行うことができます。 

供給の価格弾力性の程度は、供給量が価格変動に応じてどのように変化するかを示します。

まず、完全に弾力性のある供給です。価格が少し上がると供給量が無限になり、価格が下がるとゼロになります。一般的な価格で、生産者は任意の数量を供給します。供給曲線は水平で、弾力性は無限大です。

次に、比較的弾力的な供給です。供給数量の変動率が価格の変動率を上回っています。供給曲線はより平坦で、弾力性の絶対値は無限大より小さく、1より大きくなります。

次に、ユニタリーエラスティックサプライがあります。供給数量の変化率は、価格の変化率と等しくなります。供給曲線は対角線で、弾性の絶対値は 1 です。

次に、供給が比較的弾力的でない。供給数量の変化率は、価格の変化率よりも小さくなります。供給曲線は急勾配です。弾性の絶対値の範囲は、1 未満から 0 より大きい範囲です。

最後に、完全に非弾力的な供給。供給される数量は、価格の変更に関係なく同じままです。供給曲線は垂直で、弾力性はゼロです。
