Thromboplastin Plasma Method

Thromboplastin Plasma Method is a coagulation assay that measures how quickly citrated plasma forms a fibrin clot after tissue thromboplastin and calcium are added, providing an assessment of blood-clotting function. The reagent supplies tissue factor and phospholipids, while calcium restores the ion required for coagulation; clot formation then reflects activity in the extrinsic and common pathways, including factors I, II, V, VII, and X. In cancer research, this method helps characterize tumor-associated changes in hemostasis, compare coagulation profiles among experimental groups, and evaluate how disease biology or anticancer interventions affect clotting. Results can support studies of thrombosis risk and coagulation mechanisms.

miRNA Extraction: A Method to Extract miRNA from Plasma Sample

2023

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are tissue specific, small, non-coding RNAs regulating gene expression, and could represent ideal candidates for early detection of lung cancer. In the featured protocol, we will isolate microRNA from patient blood samples for early lung cancer screening.

Dust charging and mobilization is demonstrated in three experiments with exposure to thermal plasma with beam electrons, beam electrons only, or ultraviolet (UV) radiation only. These experiments present the advanced understanding of electrostatic dust transport and its role in shaping the surfaces of airless planetary bodies.
