Enhanced Recovery

Enhanced Recovery is an evidence-based approach that helps patients regain function sooner and experience fewer complications after major treatment, particularly surgery. In enhanced recovery pathways, clinicians coordinate care before, during, and after a procedure through patient education, shortened fasting, nutritional optimization, multimodal pain control, avoidance of unnecessary tubes and drains, and early feeding and mobilization. By reducing surgical stress, limiting opioid exposure, and supporting normal physiologic function, these protocols can shorten hospital stays, improve patient experience, and promote safer recovery. Enhanced recovery also provides a structured framework for evaluating perioperative outcomes and adapting care across surgical specialties and healthcare settings.

We illustrate the methods involved in screening and identification of the biosurfactant producing microbes. Methods for chromatographic characterization and chemical identification of the biosurfactants, determining the industrial applicability of the biosurfactant in enhancing residual oil recovery are also presented.

Robotic Mirror Therapy System for Functional Recovery of Hemiplegic Arms

We developed a real-time mirror robot system for functional recovery of hemiplegic arms using automatic control technology, conducted a clinical study on healthy subjects, and determined tasks through feedback from rehabilitation doctors. This simple mirror robot can be applied effectively to occupational therapy in stroke patients with a hemiplegic arm.

Self-Evaluation: Self-Enhancement and Self-Verification

2020

Social psychologists have documented that feeling good about ourselves and maintaining positive self-esteem is a powerful motivator of human behavior (Tavris & Aronson, 2008). In the United States, members of the predominant culture typically think very highly of themselves and view themselves as good people who are above average on many desirable traits (Ehrlinger, Gilovich, & Ross, 2005). Often, our behavior, attitudes, and beliefs are affected when we experience a threat to our...

Muscle Recovery and Fatigue

2024

Muscle fatigue refers to the decline in a muscle's ability to maintain the force of contraction after prolonged activity. It primarily stems from changes within muscle fibers. Even before experiencing muscle fatigue, one may feel tired and have the urge to stop the activity. This response, known as central fatigue, occurs due to changes in the central nervous system, namely the brain and spinal cord. While there is no single mechanism that induces fatigue, it may serve as a protective response...
