Eyelid Massage

Eyelid massage is a noninvasive technique that applies gentle pressure to the eyelids to support tear-film function and ocular surface comfort. Typically performed after a warm compress, it directs pressure along the eyelid margins, helping express oil from the meibomian glands and improve the flow of lipids that slow tear evaporation. In medicine, eyelid massage is commonly used as part of care for meibomian gland dysfunction and evaporative dry eye, often alongside eyelid hygiene and other treatments. Proper technique and pressure are important, because forceful or poorly directed massage can irritate the eye or worsen inflammation.
