Q1: What are unpaired electrons and why do they matter in EPR spectroscopy?

EPR spectroscopy specifically targets molecules containing unpaired electrons by measuring electron spin transitions. These electrons are paramagnetic and respond to applied magnetic fields, making them detectable through EPR analysis.
