Chargaff’s rules and DNA base pairing explain how DNA strands match up. In double-stranded DNA, adenine (A) pairs with thymine (T), and guanine (G) pairs with cytosine (C). Chargaff also found that A equals T, G equals C, and the total amount of purines (A and G) equals the total amount of pyrimidines (C and T).

DNA는 꼬인 사다리와 비슷합니다. DNA 사다리의 가로장은 상보적 질소 염기 쌍입니다. 염기쌍 규칙에 따르면 푸린인 아데닌은 두 개의 수소 결합으로 피리미딘인 티민과 쌍을 이룹니다.
