Spheroid Analysis

Spheroid analysis is the quantitative study of three-dimensional cell aggregates to assess their structure, growth, viability, and biochemical behavior. It typically combines microscopy with measurements of spheroid size, shape, density, spatial organization, and changes in response to experimental conditions or treatments. In biochemistry, these analyses help reveal how cell-cell interactions, nutrient and oxygen gradients, and compound penetration influence cellular function in a tissue-like environment. Applications include evaluating drug efficacy and toxicity, modeling tumor biology, investigating cell differentiation, and assessing tissue engineering strategies, providing more physiologically relevant data than many two-dimensional cell assays.
