Rink Amide Resin

Rink amide resin is a polymer-supported linker used in solid-phase peptide synthesis to produce peptides with a C-terminal amide, a common structural feature in biologically active molecules. During Fmoc-based synthesis, the growing peptide remains attached to the resin while cycles of base-mediated Fmoc removal and amino acid coupling extend the chain; treatment with acidic cleavage conditions, typically trifluoroacetic acid, releases the amidated peptide. This workflow simplifies reagent removal through filtration and enables automated, iterative assembly of peptide sequences. Rink amide resin therefore supports efficient preparation of peptide libraries, research standards, and candidate therapeutics for chemical biology and medicinal chemistry.

Source: Schaeffer, J. W., Chandler, et al. Detection of Viruses from Bioaerosols Using Anion Exchange Resin. J. Vis. Exp. (2018).This video demonstrates the detection of viruses from bioaerosols using an anion exchange resin. A liquid impinger containing the resin is used to capture viruses from the air. The resin is collected and treated with a virus lysis buffer containing carrier RNA. The lysate is transferred to a microcentrifuge tube for viral RNA isolation, followed by qRT-PCR to amplify...
