Rotator Cuff Muscles

Rotator cuff muscles are four muscles of the shoulder that stabilize the glenohumeral joint and support controlled arm movement. The supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor, and subscapularis surround the shoulder joint, with their tendons forming a cuff that compresses the humeral head against the glenoid while producing abduction and rotation. In clinical practice, evaluating these muscles helps identify tendinopathy, tears, impingement, and weakness after injury or degenerative change. Physical examination, strength testing, and imaging guide diagnosis and treatment, while targeted rehabilitation restores shoulder stability, range of motion, and function.

2025

Massive irreparable rotator cuff tears (MIRCTs) pose significant clinical challenges due to their complex pathology and limited treatment options. This study introduces whole rotator cable reconstruction (WRCR) using proximal biceps tendon autograft as a novel surgical technique for MIRCTs.

A Novel Arthroscopic Medial Knot-Tying Suture-Bridge Repair with Rip-Stop Technique for Rotator Cuff Tears

Mouse Model for Pancreas Transplantation Using a Modified Cuff Technique

2017

Among abdominal solid organ transplantation, pancreatic grafts are prone to develop severe ischemia reperfusion injury-associated graft damage, leading eventually to early graft loss. This protocol describes a model of murine pancreas transplantation using a non-suture cuff technique, ideally suited for analyzing these early, deleterious damages.
