Nano-crater Array

Nano-crater arrays are engineered surfaces containing regularly arranged nanoscale cavities, enabling precise control of surface structure and properties. They are produced by localized material removal or deformation, with fabrication conditions determining crater diameter, depth, spacing, and overall pattern. These features can alter wettability, adhesion, optical response, friction, and interactions with particles or biological materials. In engineering research, nano-crater arrays provide controlled platforms for studying surface phenomena, tailoring interfaces, and developing functional coatings, sensors, and micro- or nanostructured devices. Their repeatable geometry also supports systematic comparisons between surface architecture and performance.
