Paper Strip Orientation

Paper strip orientation is the deliberate alignment of a paper sample relative to its fibers, applied force, or fluid pathway, and it matters because orientation can change mechanical and transport behavior. Paper is an anisotropic material: its fiber arrangement and manufacturing direction influence stiffness, tensile strength, folding response, and the rate at which liquids move through pores by capillary action. In engineering, controlling orientation improves the repeatability of tensile testing, bending and packaging designs, and paper-based microfluidic devices. Comparing machine-direction and cross-direction behavior also helps researchers characterize material variability, optimize sensor layouts, and select reliable orientations for manufacturing and structural applications.

2026

Research articles are structured documents designed to communicate scientific findings efficiently and transparently. Rather than reading them sequentially like a narrative, readers can approach them strategically by understanding their standardized organization. Evaluating the title, authors, and institutional affiliations provides an initial indication of relevance, expertise, and credibility. The Abstract offers a concise summary of the study’s objective, methodology, and main findings,...

A Paper-Based Immunoassay for the Detection of Immunoglobulin G

2025

The video demonstrates a paper-based immunoassay, involving amine-functionalized cellulose discs cross-linked with glutaraldehyde. Covalent immobilization of IgG-Fc-specific capture antibodies, followed by the introduction of immunoglobulin G and horseradish peroxidase-conjugated detection antibodies, results in a color change confirming the presence of immunoglobulin G.

Voltammetry: Stripping Methods

Anodic Stripping Voltammetry (ASV), Cathodic Stripping Voltammetry (CSV), and Adsorptive Stripping Voltammetry (AdSV) are electrochemical techniques used to determine trace amounts of analytes in solution. These methods involve applying a potential to an electrode and measuring the resulting current. Anodic Stripping Voltammetry (ASV) ASV is used to determine metals and metalloids at trace levels. It involves two steps: deposition and stripping. First, a negative potential is applied to the...

Development of a Colloidal Gold-based Immunochromatographic Test Strip for Detection of Cetacean Myoglobin

This protocol describes the development of two IgG class monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) strongly reactive to myoglobin of cetaceans. These mAbs are applied on a colloidal gold immunochromatographic test strip based on the sandwich format to differentiate the Mb of cetaceans from seal and other animals.
