Hbv Replication Cycle Monitoring

HBV replication cycle monitoring is the measurement of hepatitis B virus activity as it enters cells, produces viral components, and generates new infectious particles. After infection, the viral genome is repaired into covalently closed circular DNA (cccDNA) in the nucleus, which directs viral RNA and protein production; pregenomic RNA is then packaged and reverse-transcribed into DNA inside nucleocapsids. Tracking HBV DNA, HBsAg, HBeAg, and cccDNA helps characterize infection, evaluate antiviral treatment, and assess viral persistence. In immunology and infection research, these measurements clarify interactions between viral replication and host immune responses, supporting therapeutic development and surveillance of treatment resistance.

Viral Replication: Lysogenic Cycle

2025

The lysogenic cycle is a crucial viral replication strategy that allows bacteriophages to persist within host cells without immediately destroying them. This process is primarily observed in temperate phages, such as bacteriophage lambda (λ), which infects Escherichia coli. The cycle allows the viral genome to persist across bacterial generations while keeping host cells viable.Integration of the Viral GenomeUpon infection, bacteriophage lambda attaches to the bacterial surface and injects its...

Viral Replication: Lytic Cycle

2025

Bacteriophages, or phages, are viruses that specifically infect bacteria. Among them, T-even bacteriophages, such as T4, exhibit a well-characterized lytic replication cycle in Escherichia coli (E. coli). This process ensures the rapid proliferation of the virus while ultimately leading to the destruction of the bacterial host.Attachment and DNA InjectionThe infection process begins with the recognition and binding of the T4 phage to the E. coli cell surface. Tail fibers of the phage...

Stem Cell-Derived Viral Ag-Specific T Lymphocytes Suppress HBV Replication in Mice

2019

Presented here is a protocol for the effective suppression of hepatitis B virus (HBV) replication in mice by utilizing adoptive cell transfer (ACT) of stem cell-derived viral antigen (Ag)-specific T lymphocytes. This procedure may be adapted for potential ACT-based immunotherapy of HBV infection.
