Mouse Cardiac Remodeling

Mouse cardiac remodeling is the process by which the heart’s structure and function change in response to injury, altered workload, or disease, making it a valuable model for cardiovascular medicine. In mice, pressure or volume overload, ischemia, and neurohormonal signaling can trigger cardiomyocyte hypertrophy, extracellular matrix deposition, fibrosis, inflammation, and changes in ventricular function. Researchers use genetic models, surgical interventions, imaging, and tissue analysis to track these adaptations over time. Studying mouse cardiac remodeling helps clarify mechanisms of heart failure, evaluate therapeutic targets, and connect molecular changes with whole-organ outcomes.

2015

Streptococcus pneumoniae forms discrete non-purulent microscopic lesions in the heart. Outlined is the protocol for a murine model of cardiac microlesion formation. Instruction is provided on microlesion visualization using microscopy, discrimination between early and late microlesions, and methods to detect cardiac remodeling in hearts of convalescent animals.

Nucleosome Remodeling

2020

Nucleosomes are the basic units of chromatin compaction. Each nucleosome consists of the DNA bound tightly around a histone core, which makes the DNA inaccessible to DNA binding proteins such as DNA polymerase and RNA polymerase. Hence, the fundamental problem is to ensure access to DNA when appropriate, despite the compact and protective chromatin structure. Nucleosome remodeling complex Eukaryotic cells have specialized enzymes called ATP-dependent nucleosome remodeling enzymes. These enzymes...
