Cx30 Promoter Recombination

Cx30 promoter recombination is a genetic strategy that uses regulatory DNA from the connexin 30 (Cx30, or Gjb6) gene to control site-specific DNA rearrangement in cells where this promoter is active. In a typical design, the promoter drives Cre recombinase, which recognizes loxP sites and excises or activates a conditional allele, often producing genetic labeling or targeted manipulation in Cx30-expressing astrocytes. In neuroscience, this approach helps define astrocyte contributions to synaptic regulation, neural circuits, and brain disease by enabling cell-type-directed knockout, lineage tracing, or reporter expression. It also supports comparisons between astrocyte-specific and broader genetic effects.

2013

Homologous recombination techniques greatly advance Drosophila genetics by enabling the creation of molecularly precise mutations. The recent adoption of recombineering allows one to manipulate large pieces of DNA and transform them into Drosophila6. The methods presented here combine these techniques to rapidly generate large homologous recombination vectors.

The Eukaryotic Promoter Region

2020

The eukaryotic promoter region is a segment of DNA located upstream of a gene. It contains an RNA polymerase binding site, a transcription start site, and several cis-regulatory sequences. The proximal promoter region is located in the vicinity of the gene and has cis-regulatory sequences and the core promoter. The core promoter is the binding site for RNA polymerase and is usually located between -35 and +35 nucleotides from the transcription start site. The distal promoter regions are...

Plant Promoter Analysis: Identification and Characterization of Root Nodule Specific Promoter in the Common Bean

Promoter expression analyses are crucial to improving the understanding of gene regulation and the spatiotemporal expression of target genes. Herein we present a protocol to identify, isolate, and clone a plant promoter. Further, we describe the characterization of the nodule-specific promoter in the common bean hairy roots.

A Method to Produce Recombinant Antibodies Against Metallopeptidase

2025

This video demonstrates a procedure for the production of recombinant antibodies against metallopeptidase. Recombinant plasmids carrying genes for the antibody, green fluorescent protein, and antibiotic resistance are transfected into epithelial cells with lipofectamine. The transfected cells are selected and cultivated to generate recombinant antibodies.

Promotion Metrics

Businesses rely on various promotional metrics to gauge the effectiveness of marketing campaigns. Baseline sales represent the average sales without any promotional efforts, while incremental sales measure the increase in sales resulting from a promotion. For example, if a product typically sells 300 units and a promotion increases sales to 400 units, the incremental sales are 100. This distinction is crucial for evaluating the true impact of promotional activities. Impressions count the number...
