Plasma Leakage Detection

Plasma leakage detection is the identification and measurement of blood plasma escaping from cerebral blood vessels into surrounding nervous tissue, a key indicator of vascular and blood-brain barrier dysfunction. It typically relies on tracers or plasma proteins, such as fluorescent dextrans, albumin, or Evans blue, that leave compromised vessels and are quantified through fluorescence imaging, tissue analysis, or microscopy. In neuroscience, these approaches help assess barrier permeability during stroke, traumatic brain injury, neuroinflammation, and neurological disease. Measuring leakage can reveal changes in vascular integrity, clarify disease mechanisms, and evaluate treatments designed to protect or restore the blood-brain barrier.

Detection of Nuclear Blebbing and DNA Leakage in Mammalian Cells by Immunofluorescence

2025

Laminopathy disorders often lead to changes in the nuclear envelope, which may cause nuclear blebbing and leakage. This study presents an immunofluorescence method to visualize the nuclear lamina along with double-stranded DNA (dsDNA), providing a means to assess nuclear structure and integrity in mammalian cells.

An experimental setup was created for the helium-operated kHz frequency plasma jet. The setup includes a cage for the plasma power supply and jet and an in-house built reactor to monitor plasma-induced reactive species without the interference of the ambient atmosphere.

Fluorescence Leakage Assay to Study Cell-Penetrating Peptide Interaction with Membrane

2025

This video discusses the fluorescence leakage assay to study the interactions of cell-penetrating peptides with cell membranes using cell membrane mimics — large unilamellar vesicles, or LUVs, encapsulated with a fluorescent dye and a quencher.
