Zeolite Material

Zeolite material is a crystalline, microporous solid valued for its ordered framework, high surface area, and ability to interact selectively with molecules and ions. Its structure consists of linked silicon-, aluminum-, and oxygen-containing tetrahedra that form nanoscale channels and cages; aluminum substitution produces a negative framework charge balanced by exchangeable cations such as sodium or calcium. These features enable adsorption, molecular sieving, ion exchange, and controlled diffusion, with behavior influenced by pore size, composition, and temperature. In physics and materials research, zeolites support gas separation, catalysis, water purification, sensing, and the design of functional porous materials with tunable transport and storage properties.
