Behavior Guidance

Behavior guidance is the systematic use of psychological principles to help individuals understand, regulate, and adapt their actions in relation to personal goals and social environments. It works by identifying triggers and consequences, then applying strategies such as clear expectations, modeling, reinforcement, feedback, and self-monitoring to strengthen constructive responses. In psychology, behavior guidance supports learning, emotional regulation, classroom and family interactions, counseling, and behavior-change programs. By linking observable actions with environmental conditions and internal processes, it helps researchers and practitioners assess why behavior occurs, evaluate interventions, and promote more adaptive outcomes across developmental and clinical settings.

This protocol describes a bioprinting methodology using an automated robotic depositing system that incorporates etched topographical guidance cues with the precision deposition of a cell bearing hydrogel bioink. The printed cells are directly delivered to the etched features and are able to sense and orientate with them.

Use of pHluorin to Assess the Dynamics of Axon Guidance Receptors in Cell Culture and in the Chick Embryo

We describe here the use of a pH-sensitive green fluorescent protein variant, pHluorin, to study the spatio-temporal dynamics of axon guidance receptors trafficking at the cell surface. The pHluorin-tagged receptor is expressed both in cell culture and in vivo, using electroporation of the chick embryo.

Here, we present a protocol to quantify nest building behavior in mice, which is known to be impaired in several neurological disorders and diseases. This protocol examines the utility of four materials and offers the opportunity to quantify the rater agreement in scoring, improving the validity and reliability of the assay.

In this video article, we describe a new method allowing the construction of odorant gradients with stable and controllable geometries. We briefly illustrate how these gradients can be used to screen for olfactory defects (full and partial anosmia) and to study more subtle features of chemotaxis behavior.
