<p>Xianli Meng received her PhD from the School of Pharmacy at Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1998. Currently, she is committed to the interpretation of the anti-inflammatory pharmacodynamic substances and the mechanism of drugs as well as evaluating the efficacy and related mechanisms of drugs against hypoxic cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases using emerging imaging techniques.</p>

<p>Xiaobo Wang received his MD from the School of Pharmacy at Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2020. At present, he is working as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Innovative Institute of Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy at Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, focusing on the application of new techniques and methods to the mechanisms of ethnic medicine in the prevention and treatment of hypoxic cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.</p>

Mitochondrial morphological and functional abnormalities play a crucial role in various diseases, including high altitude hypoxia-induced brain damage, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disorders, complications related to diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, allergic rhinitis, and cancer, among others. The therapeutic efficacy of ethnomedicine in addressing these diseases characterized by mitochondrial injury is noteworthy.
We invite and encourage submissions of manuscripts that employ diverse methodologies to investigate the protective effects of ethnomedicine on mitochondrial health. A wide array of techniques is used in the screening and validating mitochondrial morphology, function, and potential targets affected by ethnomedicine. These techniques include laser confocal imaging, high-content imaging, the Seahorse cell energy metabolism analyzer, surface plasmon resonance (SPR), microscale thermophoresis (MST), bio-layer interferometry (BLI), cellular thermal shift assay (CETSA), differential scanning fluorimetry (DSF), and patch clamp technology.
This Methods Collection comprehensively encompasses studies using animal models, organoids, and cellular models to investigate mitochondrial diseases.
