Dr. Michel Pucéat is an INSERM research director. He is the principal investigator of an INSERM team named “Physiopathology of cardiac development” at the Medical School La Timone (Marseilles, France). His main field of interest is cardiac biology of development. He has focused his research on the epigenetic regulation of this developmental process. Using mouse and human iPS cell models of rare diseases including an epigenetic component, his research group aims at deciphering the molecular mechanisms of the diseases to uncover molecular targets of chromatin modifiers to develop pharmacological therapies for these diseases. Using a single-cell RNA-seq approach, the team also studies cell heterogeneity within cardiac lineages at the origin of the embryonic and adult heart. He has also been a coordinator of and partnered with international networks of excellence such as the Leducq foundation network.
