Dr. Parisha Shah is a Senior Research Investigator at the University of Pennsylvania, Perelman School of Medicine in the Department of Medicine and the Epigenetics Institute. Parisha studies genome organization during development to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying the establishment of cellular identity, maintenance of cellular memory, and epigenetic stability. Parisha completed a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, Epigenetics Institute where she studied epigenetics of senescence, aging, and age-related disease. Parisha received her BS from Juniata College and her PhD from The University of Chicago, where she studied mechanisms of recombinase function during homologous recombination and DNA repair. Parisha is a member of the Penn Genetics Gender Equity Group, serves on the Board of Trustees of Juniata College, and is an advocate for evolving scientific curricula and improving public science education.
