Professor Gang Fan is the director of the Ethnopharmacology Teaching and Research Section of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the executive director of the Scientific Research Branch of the Chinese Society for Ethnic Medicine, and the director of the Tibetan Medicine Professional Committee of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies. As the first or corresponding author, he has published more than 30 papers related to ethnomedicine in Pharmacological Research, Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity, Analytica Chimica Acta, and other journals. He has recently used DNA barcoding and plant metabolomics methods to research species identification and quality evaluation of Tibetan medicines with multiple species. In addition, based on the knowledge and experience of traditional ethnic medicine, he has revealed the effectiveness, active components, and mechanism of action of Tibetan medicine Cortex Berberidis in treating type II diabetes using metabolomics and network pharmacology and metagenomics methods.
