Dr. Dunbar received a B.S. degree in Microbiology and Immunology, and an MBA from the University of Maryland. She completed a Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology and Immunology from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine and a post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical and Public Health Microbiology at Baylor College of Medicine. She was the clinical laboratory director at Virus Reference Laboratory in Houston, Texas.  

Dr. Dunbar joined Luminex as a Senior Scientist in 1999 and served as Senior Director of the Biology Research and Development group for eight years. She was then Senior Director of Global Scientific Affairs for Luminex for eleven years. Currently, Dr. Dunbar is the Senior Director of Scientific Affairs Programs for Luminex, A DiaSorin Company.
