Dr. Islam Elkholi is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Lady Davis Institute of McGill University. He obtained his medical degree (M.D.) from Mansoura University in 2016 and a Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of Montreal in 2022. The overarching theme of his doctoral and postdoctoral work is defining clinically actionable signaling networks/pathways to therapeutically target in cancer metastasis. In his doctoral work in the labs of Drs. Jean-François Côté and Morag Park, he studied the signaling dependencies of breast cancer cells of different metastatic behavior. This work revealed a PIK3C3-mTORC1 signaling axis to target in breast cancer metastasis. As a Postdoctoral Fellow in the lab of Dr. April Rose, he is working on revealing the signaling networks and therapeutic vulnerabilities of non-V600 BRAF mutated metastatic tumors.
