Dr. Lijia Liu earned her PhD in chemistry from Western University in 2012. She is trained as a chemist and a synchrotron spectroscopist. Following her doctoral studies, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Saskatchewan, where she developed X-ray spectroscopy techniques for in situ material analysis. Dr. Liu then joined the Institute of Functional Nano and Soft Materials (FUNSOM) at Soochow University as an associate professor, focusing on developing perovskite-based optoelectronic devices. In 2020, she began her independent career as an assistant professor at Western University. Her research interests include the synthesis of persistent luminescent nanomaterials for applications in optical-based bioimaging, sensing, and anticounterfeiting, as well as conducting spectroscopic studies to understand the mechanisms behind persistent luminescence phenomena.
