Mario Pagliaro is research director at Italy’s National Research Council in Palermo, where he leads a research group focused on nanochemistry, solar energy, green chemistry, and the bioeconomy. In 2021, he was elected an ordinary member of the Academia Europaea. His group’s work—conducted in collaboration with researchers from over 20 countries—has been published in nearly 400 peer-reviewed papers.


Dr. Pagliaro has named numerous innovative functional materials and enabling technologies developed by his lab, including IntegroPectin, CuproGraf, NiGraf, CytroCell, GrafeoPlad, CytroCav, AquaSun, SiliOrange, AnchoisOil, LimoFish, AnchoisFert, SiliaSun, and HyTan. He is also the author or co-author of 22 books, several of which are considered key references in their respective fields.
